Competitors under 8 years
are confined to Under 8
competitions. Solo Standard
competitions are confined to
those who have no partner in
the Standard section. Solo
Latin competitions are
confined to those who have
no partner in the Latin
section.
All-Girls competitions are
confined to those who have
no boy partner. In All-Girl
partnerships, both
competitors must be dressed
according to the regulations
governing girls.
From 1st January
2006 only competitions with
a minimum of three couples
will count for grading
purposes.
From 1st January
2005 Juvenile and Junior
competitors may compete one
class above their official
class, as well as Open. A
maximum of three
competitions may be entered
in any branch.
Adult competitors may
compete one class above
their official class, as
well as Open. A maximum of
three competitions may be
entered in any branch.
Competitors in competition
29 may also compete in
competition 30.
All Adult competitors, in
addition to being members of
the Irish DanceSport
Federation or an Affiliated
Board, must also be
registered competitors.
Dress Code – Dress Code
infringements are usually
confined to the lower age
groups. However, some adult
Standard competitors have
infringed the Dress Code
rule recently. It should be
noted that dress for Adult
Standard male competitors is
Black or Midnight Blue Tail
Suit. Exemption from
wearing a Tail Suit is
granted to Beginner and
Novice classes, where full
competition dress is
optional. Social Dancer
competitors may not wear
competition dress.
There have been complaints
about unregistered people
dancing in competitions and
in order to prevent the
confusion this causes it has
been agreed, that on and
from Sunday 23rd
September 2001 an IDSF
registration card must be
shown before an entry will
be accepted in a competition
and a number issued.
Recently a lot of
inconvenience and
unnecessary expense was
caused when registration
cards were lost. It has now
been agreed by all boards
that in the event of a
person requiring a
replacement card the
following will apply;
(a) A charge of €12.50 will
be levied in all cases. The
duplicate card will not be
handed over until this is
paid.
(b) Responsibility for
collection of the card will
rest with the applicant.
From 17th October
2001couples declaring to
represent Ireland must have
competed in 3 chart rated
competitions before being
eligible for selection. On
participation in their third
competition any points
gained in the previous
competitions will be counted
in assessing their chart
ranking.
